REVIEW: Halloween Candy

Halloween Candy
Lyle Perez-Tinics

Genre: Horror, Short Story
Publication date: 6.4.2014
Pages: 19

Date read: 10.15.2014

Summary: Need a little "treat" before Halloween?  Join four friends who get more out of Halloween night then they gained for.  The house has been abandoned for sometime now, soon they find out why.

Four friends are out trick-or-treating the night of Halloween.  As they pass by an old house, one that everyone thinks is haunted, one boy dares his friends to go in and spend 20 minutes in there.  One friend accepts - and his prize will be the other three boys' candy bags.  What can happen in just 20 minutes?  And after?

I enjoyed this story.  It has a really interesting storyline and some very creepy moments.  I liked the four boys - they were written well.  Unfortunately, the ending, though shocking, just wasn't enough of an ending for me.  It was also rather abrupt - with a bit of cleaning up, a little more to the ending, and an editor, this could definitely be a 5 star short story.

I would love to have everyone else's candy, but sure wouldn't do anything scary to get it. Ima chicken! :)

I think I'd go into the haunted house, but I definitely would NOT want to do it by myself :)

Why thank you, Tanya. That makes my day. It also means that I'm doing something right. :) I really appreciate that.
